I represented a corporation in Nassau County that was cited for several Fire Marshal violations. Many of these tickets were misdemeanors. The Fire Marshal got a judgment for $5,000 on each ticket. After hiring me, I submitted a motion to vacate the default and was able to negotiate a plea to a non-misdemeanor (i.e., non-criminal) disposition with a total fine of $500. So not only did I remove the misdemeanor conviction from the corporation’s record, but I was able to significantly reduce the fines.
