I represented a defendant charged with possession of a loaded firearm, a class C violent felony. The client was on parole for attempted murder and was known by law enforcement as being a notorious crip gang member. The District Attorney’s Office did not want to plea bargain the case at all and was pushing for upstate prison. The client was facing a lengthy prison sentence if convicted and in addition, parole would have revoked him. The parole revocation would have added more time to his sentence. I very aggressively defended him and as a result of my skillful advocacy, the District Attorney’s Office dismissed the matter leaving the client with no conviction and an immediate release from incarceration.
